Raul admired her hair, her dress. He gave her a raise and said it was for work wear. He thought she deserved to look more professional. She bought a pair of shoes. While she leaned over to drink at the water fountain, he placed his hand on the small of her back. She rose into it. Neither of them said anything.

At eight months, she went on leave. Raul came to visit her at home. He brought her items she needed from the store when she wasn’t up to it. He rubbed her feet while she pried open a jar of mayonnaise.
